Courtney Love is ''so sad'' Kurt Cobain missed seeing their 22-year-old daughter grow up.

The 51-year-old star posted an emotional message to her late husband, who committed suicide in 1994 shortly before their only child Frances Bean's second birthday, on Instagram on Monday (24.08.15) and admitted she still doesn't understand why he took his own life.

Alongside a photograph of them with their then-baby girl in 1992, the Hole rocker wrote: ''Makes me feel so sad. Our baby is all grown up now. Jesus, Kurt, look at her face, what on earth were you thinking...!?!? God I miss you, we all miss you. #family #memories #turnbacktime #lovehim (sic)''

It was previously revealed Courtney felt the closest to Kurt since his death when she watched the 'Montage of Heck' documentary earlier this year, and insisted on seeing it three times.

Recalling how she declined his offer to take her out to dinner while it was shown at the Berlin Film Festival, director Brett Morgen said: ''Courtney said 'No, I want to watch it again. I want to spend some time with Kurt tonight'. She told me it's the closest she's been to Kurt since he died.''
