The wrongful death suit was filed last week by Walker’s daughter, 16-year-old Meadow Walker. The suit alleges Walker’s death was caused by Porsche failing to incorporate certain safety features in the vehicle in which Walker was a passenger.
Walker died in November 2013 at the age of 40. Walker was a passenger in his 2005 Porsche Carrera GT driven by his friend, Roger Rodas, when the vehicle left the road and hit a pole. The vehicle burst into flames soon after. Walker and Rodas both died from the injuries they had sustained as a result of the collision, smoke inhalation and severe burns.
The suit claims the seatbelt Walker was wearing made it impossible for him to move out of the vehicle once the fire started. It also alleges that the model was built without a proper stabilisation system which would have prevented the car from swerving.
Law enforcement investigators concluded the crash was the result of driving at high speeds. Porsche, in a statement released on Wednesday (30th September), reiterated the investigation’s conclusions and denied they were responsible.
“As we have said before, we are very sad whenever anyone is hurt in a Porsche vehicle, but we believe the authorities’ reports in this case clearly establish that this tragic crash resulted from reckless driving and excessive speed,” Porsche said, as The Guardian reports.
