Paul Walker's younger brother Cody will star in future 'Fast & Furious' films, but is it such a good idea?
We were a little skeptical when we first heard that Paul Walker’s 25 year old brother, Cody Walker, would be taking his place in the Fast & Furious films. We found out back in April that both of Paul’s brothers, Cody and Caleb, would stand in for Paul’s character, Brian O’Conner, to finish his scenes and make sure that Paul’s memory lived on in the movies.

Paul Walker tragically died in a car crash on November 30, 2013. He had already filmed around 85% of his scenes for Fast & Furious 7, the remaining scenes his brothers were said to be stepping in for. The script was revised and Walker’s character was set to retire, rather than be killed off, although before Paul's fatal accident neither had been planned.

It’s now being reported that directors were so impressed with the youngest Walker that they’ve offered him a role in future movies. Sources report that Brian O’Conner will retire and his younger brother will join the crew. Art imitating life, eh? Producers have tried to make it clear that Cody and his character will in no way be a replacement for Paul, and that the young actor has much to offer. This way both Walker and O’Conner will live on in the Fast & Furious franchise for many more years to come. But is it the whole thing such a good idea?
Well, we certainly think it is! What a great tribute it will be to Paul Walker and we’re sure that he would be really proud of his younger brother, Cody. Paul loved making the Fast & Furious movies and we’re certain that if he hadn’t so tragically passed away last year that he would have wanted to continue starring in them. This way the character that Paul dedicated so many years to will remain alive and so will the memory of Paul, via his uncannily similar looking brother.
Cody does bear a striking resemblance to his older brother, although no one will ever truly replace Paul Walker. An insider explained about the decision to offer Cody a role in the upcoming movies: “Of course, Cody isn’t a replacement for Paul in any way, but the producers were really grateful that he stepping in to help them finish this last film and Cody is so likeable and charming. It would be a tribute to Paul that Cody carries on the Walker name in the Fast and The Furious movies.”
Cody Walker will join Vin Diesel and the Fast & Furious crew in future movies
Nothing will be able to heal the heartbreak of losing his brother, but Cody should surely feel some consolation that he’s doing something that would make his brother so happy.
