Labrinth named his new album after his decision to turn down big-star collaborations.
The 25-year-old singer wanted his new LP 'Take Me to the Truth' to contain good music rather than attract attention by using the names of popular artists.
Speaking to Digital Spy, he said: ''The album's called 'Take Me to the Truth', and the truth is, I'm not going to pretend to be friends with loads of Hollywood stars and put them on my album and make s**t records with them just to have their name on there.
''I did work with a few US artists - like, massive names - but I just didn't think the songs were quite right, so I thought, 'I don't want to put out crap music'.
''I don't want to make something I don't enjoy, because I'm going to have to sing it for the next two years. I was like, 'Just don't do it, don't put it on the album'.
''It was a hard one, of course, because from a label and popular standpoint it could look really good on iTunes, but I'd rather just sell the music that I like.''
Meanwhile, Labrinth's sister ShezAr believes his music has matured and she's glad he's taken inspiration from a range of genres to suit his style.
She said previously: ''I'm just so happy with this album that he's creating, he's going to some next level of musicality and vibes, and he's using all of his influences from growing up to what's of today's trending types of music genres.''
Labrinth's new single 'Let It Be' will be released on September 28, followed by 'Take Me to the Truth.'
