Ian Somerhalder has wished his ''incredible'' wife Nikki Reed happy birthday.

The 'Vampire Diaries' star took to his Twitter account to post a touching tribute to his spouse, whom he wed in a romantic ceremony at the Tuscali Mountain Inn in Topanga, California, late last month.

The actor wrote to the 'Twilight' star as she turned 27 today (17.05.15): ''Happy birthday to the most incredible woman I've ever known... HAPPY BIRTHDAY @NikkiReed_I_Am The world is better because you are in it!!!!! (sic)''

He later corrected himself and added: ''I meant the most incredible human I've ever known...;)''

The 36-year-old star isn't shy when it comes to expressing his feelings towards the brunette beauty.

He recently described married life with her as ''amazing'' and added that their first few weeks as husband and wife had been the ''best time [he's] ever had''.

The hunky actor also gushed over Nikki on his Instagram account and called her a ''dream come true''.

Alongside a photograph which showed a shirtless Ian next to his wife following their honeymoon he wrote: ''Feet back on US soil aka... New York City. Dreaming of the Costa Rica rainforest. Thank you to this beautiful country: it's land and its people. Thank you to this beautiful woman who makes every day a dream come true. Pura Vida (sic).''
