Hilary Duff has opened up about her divorce from football player Mike Comrie and why she doesn't feel the need to get married again.

The 29-year-old married Comrie in 2010, when she was just 22 and the couple had one child together, son Luca Cruz, before calling it quits five years later.

Speaking on The Love Bomb podcast on Tuesday, Duff opened up about getting married so young. “When we were deciding to get married, I was totally down — I felt totally ready.

“I had already been working as an adult since I was 12 years old, so 22 doesn’t seem that crazy to get married.”

Of her divorce the singer added: “I wasn’t shamed because I got a divorce. It was a big step to take and it was a lot of considering, obviously a little human.”

Duff had been dating Comrie since she was 19 and lived their entire relationship in the public eye, but now the singer feels apprehensive about dating again as a celebrity.

“I don’t know any other way until now, which is obviously, I’m divorced, and it’s never seemed harder to have a life outside of my relationship,” she said.

“It just seems scarier than ever because of how much attention celebrities get because of their personal life now and how much focus is on that and how much one person can say one thing and how much impact it can have. It’s crazy.”

Now Duff is dating her personal trainer Jason Walsh, and says she’s open to marriage again but doesn’t “feel the need” to be wed.

“I don’t feel the need to get married again,” she explained. “As much as I was ready and excited, you’re like, ‘Oh, next step. We get married.’

“That is the traditional person that I’m talking about that’s inside of me or however I was raised.

“I don’t feel the need. I got to have the experience and it was awesome,” she added. “I guess if it mattered to someone else that much, I would consider it.”
