The cast are doing everything they can to preserve his memory.
The show must go on. That's the attitude of bereaved 'Star Trek Beyond' cast member and screenwriter Simon Pegg, who's determined to make the promotional run of the new movie all about the late Anton Yelchin, who tragically passed away at the age of just 27 last month.
Anton Yelchin is honoured by his 'Star Trek' castmates
'Star Trek' stars are still reeling from the loss of their close friend and colleague; Anton Yelchin protrayed Pavel Chekov in the 2009's 'Star Trek' and 2013's 'Star Trek Into Darkness' and had just completed the latest instalment of the franchise when he died suddenly in a freak car accident at his San Fernando Valley home on June 19th 2016. Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty, is refusing to let his memory be forgotten.
'He should still be here, but we have to make this about Anton now', Pegg said on Magic Radio. 'And we talked about how hard it was going to be to get out there and bang the drum for this movie when we've lost one of our family. But for his sake and for his memory, we're going to make it. It's something that we just now have to contend with.'

Zachary Quinto, who plays Spock, also paid tribute to his pal during his appearance on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' on Friday (July 1st 2016). 'I think our goal has to be to just celebrate his incredible life and honor him as much as we can', he said. 'It was a terrible loss not only to us personally, but I think to the industry and audiences. He was such a talent. I think we take it for granted in a lot of ways because we genuinely love each other so much. But we are truly intertwined inextricably and I think we always will be.'
Yelchin died of blunt traumatic asphyxia after getting trapped between his Jeep and a brick pillar outside his house in California. The exact circumstances of the incident are unknown, but it was ruled as an accident by the LA coroner's office and he was laid to rest on five days later on June 24th.
