Sir Trevor Nunn the revered British theatre director is to be inducted into Broadway's Theater Hall of Fame, it's been confirmed. The three-time Tony Award winner will be one of eight new names to be given the honour at a forthcoming ceremony at New York's Gershwin Theatre in January.

Nunn has had a glittering career in theatre, ever since joining the Royal Shakespeare Company way back in 1964. He made his debut in New York's famous theatre district in 1981 as a director with very successful The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby, which won him his first Tony Award. He subsequently went on to enjoy success with Cats and Les Miserables. His last run in Broadway was with the play A Little Night Music, whilst he enjoyed a run in London's West End last year with The Lion In Winter. He will be joined at the ceremony by the playwrights Christopher Durang and Paula Vogel, as well as performers Betty Buckley and Sam Waterston, all of whom will be among the next batch of inductees. Nunn becomes the third Brit after Brits Dame Maggie Smith and Sir Ian McKellen to join the Theater Hall of Fame.
