Review of Thomas Tantrum Album by Thomas Tantrum

Review of Thomas Tantrum's self-titled album.

Thomas Tantrum Thomas Tantrum Album

Before we kick things off lets got one thing clear, Thomas Tantrum are a group, not a solo artist. This is a four piece not straight out of Compton, but straight out of the depths of Southampton. Tantrum are looking to achieve what Southampton FC have failed to do and that is put a smile on the locals faces, which will be in the shape of their self titled album.

Lead singer Megan Thomas vocals are fabulous, full of high powered energy that makes you feel like you have had a work out just listening. You can imagine her jumping up at down in the recording studio like she has got ants in her pants.

Your average Joe out there might just cast these off as another Lilly Allen or Kate Nash, but hold on a minute for a start, Thomas Tantrum are a band and they are not moaning about one thing or another.

The album is full of hits and you will be pleased to know that Singles ‘Work It’ and ‘Shake It! Shake It!’ unlike other artists that will remain nameless, Thomas Tantrum have not messed around by making a different version for the album. They have kept it simple and the single version is the same as the album version.

When you listen to the album there are some tracks that seem like they are just a bit of fun, but that is what pop is about. ‘Why The English Are Rubbish’ is a perfect example of this, it is just pure genius, two minutes twenty of pop fun. Sometimes you have take Mr serious face off and kick back and enjoy the ride

These guys (and girl) hold a sound that no one else hold, and with what can only be described as throw away lyrics. But yes but it all works and all this turns your brain into mush

There is a fine line between being taken for a joke and finding the recipe for pop glitz and Thomas Tantrum are walking the tight rope with ease. It will be interesting to see what the next album is compiled of in the shape of tunes, but that is just something we shall have to wait for.

7/10
