Album Review
What a contrast there is within this one disc. A band chosen to be 'special guests' on Elton John's forthcoming tour (blame him for James Blunt too), and the recipients of some great PR with live radio sessions on Radio 4 and Radio 2, promise much. But the opening song, I Believe In Love, was almost enough to gain the disc an instant 'off', sounding like Cliff Richard fronting a boy band. Badly. Matters immediately improve, fortunately, with some America (Horse With No Name) harmony and melody. The British band are dead in Eagles/ America/ Robbie Williams soft rock territory, and it's all nice enough. Storys won't ever be an NME pleaser, but there are clearly a lot of people out there looking for plain and simple big choruses and Boyzone-like swells. For those looking for more edge, this is as spherical as things get.
