Read our album review of The Smithereens 'Live In Concert - Greatest Hits and More!' released through Koch.
There's been various compilations of The Smithereens songs but this new 'Live In Concert' album really has picked the 'pick of the crop' it's an 80 minute long concert featuring their best work.
The Smithereens have been one of the best rock bands of the last 20 years, they're one of a few who successfully mix classic pop Beatles-esque melody with out and our rock.
Behind The Wall of Sleep and Drown In My Own Tears are the opening tracks, they really kick off in a meaningful way, start as you mean to go on! The tracks continue working their way through 28-year, 15-album career. There's also a few wonderful extras including Pat DiNizio solo songs, covers (Well Alright, the Buddy Holly song, and the Batman theme, given an remarkable treatment), complted with a few unreleased songs and some fan requests, The Smithereens have produced an album that's real value for money.
The gig was recorded at the celebrated Court Tavern in New Brunswick, NJ where the band played their first gigs, the quality sounds fantastic. A real gem of an album!
