The Royal We The Royal We Album

There must be something in the water up in Glasgow. Perhaps they have some strange repetitive compulsion that makes them fall for any twee indie band that happens to play cutesy sing-alongs in a strained and barely in-tune voice. With such rhymes as “being patient at the railway station” (or something) they should technically be a winner but something just doesn’t sit right.

This is what the Long Blondes sounded like before the spit and shine and trust me, that wasn’t a pretty time. ‘All the Rage’ is a great song, all 60’s doo-wop and confidence but the tracks that nestle either side of it are piss-poor, badly executed demi-ideas that sound like a bunch of boozy harridans making stuff up in the corner of the local pub at closing time. It’s like 1994 all over again.

“Ooh you’re sexy, like T-Rexy”. Oh please. That’s just not even funny. And yes, I do have a sense of humour. Or at least, I did have half an hour ago.
