The band's intelligent use of dark lyrics and varied moods on the album, as well as in this one song outweighs the sugar-coated nature of "In the Shadows," whilst one a lighthearted level will get you singing before you can stop yourself. "In the Shadows" has established itself as an infectious and likeable piece of rock pop, which is impossible to hate if anyone tried.
