Perhaps his most ambitious project yet, The Good, The Bad & The Queen is Damon Albarns new super group, consisting of the former Verve guitarist Simon Tong, The Clash Bassist Paul Simonon, Fela Kuti drummer Tony Allen and prolific producer Danger Mouse.

The first single from the incoming album, ‘Herculean’ is nothing short of atmospheric. Piano, lashings of guitar and Albarn’s alternating vocals sit among a soothing electronic & choir-like backdrop. This intricate, yet dense piece of work has a subtle haunting quality, but oddly enough, there is nothing to fear.

With the self-titled debut album not due out until the later end of January, Albarn has done a very good job of causing a stir. Not like they ever needed to anyway.
