Former Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding is set to make her theatrical debut in a new musical version of the classic ’90s movie Ghost.

The 34 year old singer, who has clocked up acting experience on the two St. Trinian’s movies in 2007 and 2009 in addition to a short-lived stint on ITV soap ‘Coronation Street’ last year, is to fill Demi Moore’s role as Molly.

Andy Moss, who played Rhys in Channel 4’s ‘Hollyoaks’, is to perform in Patrick Swayze’s role as Molly’s murdered boyfriend Sam, with whom she is able to communicate through the power of a medium (the latter role saw Whoopi Goldberg win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress).

Reacting to the news of her role, Harding said: “The film is one of my all-time favourites, so to get the opportunity to play Molly is a huge honour for me and I can't wait to get started.”

Harding was last seen in Channel 4’s ‘The Jump’ at the start of 2016, with her role in ‘Coronation Street’ having ended prematurely last summer after only four episodes.

“It is pretty equal at the moment between acting and singing, they are side by side,” she said at the time about her priorities in her career. “I love my music but I love to think I have other options and paths available to me. I did train in acting when I was younger which a lot of people don't know and for me it is nice to have another option, it mixes things up a little bit and keeps it interesting. These days it is good to be a bit of an all-rounder.”
