The Pulp Fiction star was called in as a prospective juror in a negligence case last week (ends20Sep15), but he wrote a note to Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Richard Fruin asking to be excused from his duties.

In the note, Jackson declared that while jury duty is a "privilege", the case would interfere with the production of a film he is slated to shoot over the next few months.

He also maintained he would be in breach of contract if chosen as a juror and his potential absence would delay production and put crewmembers' jobs at risk.

Judge Fruin reportedly granted Jackson's dismissal.
