Rosamund Pike is nervous about the prospect of winning the Best Actress prize at the British Academy Film Awards.

The 36-year-old star, who's been nominated for her performance as Amy Dunne in the David Fincher-directed film 'Gone Girl', doesn't think she'll win the award and is anxious about having to take to the stage if she does.

Speaking on the red carpet at the Royal Opera House in London tonight (08.02.15), she explained: ''I think it's very, very likely I'll get to stay in my seat, so I won't be embarrassing anybody.

''I think actors and actresses get very nervous about presenting awards. I've done a few award ceremonies and I'm not expecting to win any. But I think that at the point your category is announced, there's a feeling of absolute terror. You know, even if this wonderful thing is bestowed upon you, there's this absolute terror about what we do.

''We appear in front of people for a living, [but] there's something about the nature of these nights that give you the wrong kind of nerves.''

Also nominated in the Best Actress category is Amy Adams ('Big Eyes'), Felicity Jones ('The Theory of Everything'), Julianne Moore ('Still Alice') and Reese Witherspoon ('Wild').
