Rogers Sisters The Invisible Deck Album

New York trio The Rogers Sisters have finally delivered on their early promise by crafting an album with a lot of genuinely impressive moments.

There's very little surplus on the LP, with most tracks firmly in top gear and aimed straight at the jugular. The bone-grindingly noisy "Your Littlest World" bristles with pent-up tension, while "The Conversation" fills a thousand dancefloors with its punk-funk rhythms, and evoke the bleak cityscape from which they emerged wonderfully.

Admittedly, there are some below-par moments, "Emotion Control" is let down by a dip in production quality, the vocals sitting awkwardly atop a wall of sound backing, and "Money Matters" is a bit of a dull chugger, but they are swiftly forgotten when the better tracks rumble out of the speakers.

Yes, there is something about this band that is so "now", even though they've been around for nigh on six years, but there is enough distinctiveness in their yelping dual vocals to make them stand out from the
current crop. Imagine a funkier, scuzzed-up B52's and you're halfway there. Definitely worth parting with your cash for.
