Status Quo's Rick Parfitt says three heart attacks have only made him more optimistic about his future.
Status Quo's Rick Parfitt believes he can ''survive anything'' after suffering three heart attacks.
The 66-year-old guitarist collapsed while on holiday in Croatia last year having previously suffered similar attacks in 1997 and 2011 but thinks the life-threatening situations have only made him feel more optimistic about his future.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: ''Having survived my heart attacks and got healthier, it shows how resilient I am. If I am strong enough to get through them I reckon I can survive anything.''
However, the 'Whatever You Want' hitmaker confessed he is often in intense discomfort following his trio of heart attacks.
He admitted: ''I can certainly feel the impact. If I'm honest, I'm often in constant pain.''
Rick - who now lives in Spain with his fitness instructor wife Lyndsay Whitburn, the mother of his seven-year-old twins Tommy and Lily - has drastically altered his lifestyle since his third heart attack, putting years of drinking and smoking behind him for good.
He explained: ''Since my last huge heart attack last year I've had to give up smoking and drinking almost entirely and be really careful.''
He previously revealed: ''That part of my life is over as I do not want to die, I want to live ... I've had 50 years of smoking and drinking and abusing my body ... There comes a time when you have to look at yourself and think, 'Right, that's it, it's now time for a change'. All my life I've defied the doctor's orders, thinking that I'm made of steel ... But as stupid as this may sound, I'm pleased I've had this heart attack because I couldn't see a way out of my bad habits.''
Rick was speaking at a celebrity packed performance of the West End theatrical musical Dusty.
