Ralph Lauren loves androgynous women.
The veteran fashion designer has always liked seeing ladies wear men's clothes and admits his female line was inspired by women who liked his menswear and wanted their own versions.
He told British Grazia magazine: ''Long before I had experienced the artistry of Saville Row, I'd loved the way women looked in men's clothes.
''When I started to make menswear, women were always asking, 'Can you make it for me?' Today I offer both men and women made-to-measure that's inspired by that custom-made experience.''
The US-born designer admits a lot of his work is inspired by UK style, both past and present.
He said: ''When I opened my first store outside the US, in London in 1981, I felt such a warm welcome here. I still do.
''My spring 2014 collection has a nod to the bold spirit and playful London in the late 60s.
''I've always loved the heritage of England. My collection for Fall 2012 was about modern glamour inspired by refined elegance.
