The late Pete Burns will receive a send-off in style, it has been revealed, after eighties legend Boy George offered to pay for his funeral. Pete’s ex-wife Lynne had confirmed she could not afford to pay for the star’s send-off and his old pal, George has stepped in instead.

The Sun has reported that the Culture Club star - and friend of Dead or Alive frontman, Pete - offered his services and is now helping Lynne, and Pete’s husband Michael Simpson, plan Pete’s final celebration.

Pete died following a cardiac arrest on Monday (24 October) aged 57. He was said to be penniless.

He was married to Lynne Corlett for 25 years before divorcing her to wed Michael in 1987.

The trio were said to have remained close and lived near to each other in north-west London.

The star - who has shelled out thousands of pounds on plastic surgery throughout his life - was at Lynne’s home when he became ill.

Describing his pal, Boy George, 55, said: "He was one of our great eccentrics and such a big part of my life."

A date and place has yet to be found decided for the funeral but it is said it will take place in the next few weeks somewhere in London.
