Pee-Wee Herman will soon be back and on a Netflix near you, as the streaming service has officially announced it's picked up Pee-Wee's Big Holiday, the latest movie starring Paul Reubens' bow tie wearing character. The film will be produced by Judd Apatow and marks the third feature length outing for the character.

“Judd and I dreamt up this movie four years ago. The world was much different back then — Netflix was waiting by the mailbox for red envelopes to arrive. I’ve changed all that. The future is here. Get used to it. Bow tie is the new black,” Paul Reubens said in a statement after the announcement was made.

Reubens wrote the script for his character’s comeback movie alongside ‘Comedy Bang! Bang!’ writer Paul Rust. Producing will be the comedy moviemaker's 'Apatow Productions', while TV director John Lee will make his feature length debut.

“We didn’t hesitate for a moment knowing that Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday was such a passion project for Paul and Judd, and we are delighted by the opportunity to introduce such a beloved character to a new generation,” Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos said in a statement.

According to the streaming service, the movie begins with “a fateful meeting” between Pee-Wee and a “mysterious stranger,” which inspires him “to take his first-ever holiday in this epic story of friendship and destiny.”

The pairing seems a perfect match, as die-hard fans of the character wanting their fix are already able to catch Pee-Wee on Netflix in films Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure and Big Top Pee-Wee. As well as his classic children’s series 'Pee-Wee's Playhouse', which ran from 1986-1991 on CBS.

Production on Pee-Wee's Big Holiday is scheduled to begin next month.
