He wants to band together with his US friends to help 'fight' Donald Trump.
Sir Patrick Stewart has decided to show his support for the American people in the best way possible; by requesting US citizenship so that he may help 'fight' the oppressive policies that are being put in place in the wake of President Donald Trump's election.
Patrick Stewart applies for US citizenship
The 'Logan' star has always been vocal about his political views, and indeed most recently about his feelings towards Donald Trump when he suggested in a Tweet that his recent stay near the White House was causing some sleeping issues.
'Had the worst sleep of my life last night', he told his followers on Twitter three weeks ago. 'But I was sleeping less than 300 yards from where Donald Trump sleeps. Could there be a connection?'
On his recent appearance on The View, he explained that the comment was in relation to a recent visit he had made to Washington D.C. with his wife Sunny Ozell where they were visiting some friends. The trip set in motion a certain kind of epiphany for the veteran actor, who decided to use the opportunity to become a citizen of America just so that he can oppose the government.

'I'm not a citizen. However, maybe it's the only good thing as a result of this election, I am now applying for citizenship', he revealed. 'Because I want to be an American too. All of my friends in Washington said: 'There is one thing you can do. Fight, fight; oppose, oppose'. But I can't do it because I'm not a citizen.'
76-year-old Patrick grew up in West Yorkshire in England and lived in his home country for a long time before moving to Los Angeles. He and Sunny have been living together in Brooklyn, New York since 2012. It's difficult to know how well Patrick's application for US citizenship is going to go, but we wish him the best of luck.
