The project has the working title of ‘Maya and Marty in Manhattan’ and it is expected to air live from NBC’s 30 Rock headquarters in New York. While there’s not many details available about the show’s format, Variety describes it as a contemporary spin on 'The Carol Burnett Show', blending musical numbers, comedy sketches and celebrity guests.
In May 2014 Rudolph hosted a one-off special for NBC, ‘The Maya Rudolph Show’, which was said to be a trail run for the series. The 43-year-old Bridesmaids star is known for her wide array of musical impersonations of artists ranging from Jennifer Lopez to Beyonce.

On Thursday (February 11th) a number of current and former ‘SNL-ers’ were on hand at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall for a tribute to Michaels, where the show was said to be a topic of conversation.
