Hollywood actor Matt Dillon has no regrets over turning down the lead role in the 1980 movie THE BLUE LAGOON, because he thought the finished product was "silly".
The 41-year-old actor was making a name for himself in the early 1980s in films including The Outsiders and RUMBLE FISH, and he
loved the idea of filming on an exotic island with the film's star Brooke Shields
But Dillon was so unimpressed with The Blue Lagoon's script he decided to turn the part, which eventually went to Christopher Atkins, down.
He says, "I've turned down a lot of movies and there were a lot of reasons to turn down The Blue Lagoon. It wasn't just the nudity. It was kind of a silly movie, you know?
"Much as I was tempted to go to Tahiti and run around with no clothes on, I had to let that one go."
