| Devastation sounds a lot like Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue's Where the Wild Roses Grow. It's almost heartfelt yet hurtful, and powerful yet mellow and chilled out. I think I could listen to this as I was out driving on a country road. Most of the tracks are funny yet moving, lyrics are real and compatible to how things truly are. I love Monday Night Nothing it is just The Pogues, but a Scottish version. In fact the whole album is virtually inspired by The Pogues. The Celtic thing is there. Bear with me is the rockiest song on the album. It almost has an edgy but soft feel to it. The vocals make the audience feel safer, like they know what's to come in future songs. Burst Noel is particularly upsetting, remembering Christmas and all of the happy thoughts. However this song contrasts the happy thoughts and the sad melody so it's uneasy of how to feel about this song. Judging by the cover I wouldn't have bought it, but judging by the quality songs, it's an album worth investing in. If you want to catch Malcolm this summer, he'll be at T in the Park on Sunday 10 th July 2005 . Into the Woods a metaphor for Malcolm Middleton venturing out to other music genres.
