Rapper-turned-actor LL Cool J thrilled needy kids in Queens, New York over the weekend (23-24Aug14) by handing out free school supplies.

The hip-hop star, who grew up in New York, visited the Jamaica neighbourhood on Sunday (24Aug14) to hand out backpacks stuffed with goodies.

Around 2,000 youngsters attended the event at the Jamaica Coliseum Mall organised by the Worldstar Foundation.

LL Cool J's charity giveaway comes just weeks after he visited New York's famous Rikers Island prison to launch an anti-violence program for local youths.
