Liam Hemsworth has been rumoured to be back with former fiancée Miley Cyrus for months now, but the Aussie actor has been keeping quiet on what’s really going on between the pair. But in an interview with Australian GQ magazine Hemsworth has said that his break-up with Cyrus back in 2013 ‘had to happen’.

Speaking about the split Hemsworth said: “Of course it was hard, man. But at the time we were going in different directions and it’s just what needed to happen. We were both super young and it was a good decision at the time – we both needed that.”

“I guess when I feel something, then I just feel it and I go for it,” he added. “I make my decisions about what’s going to make me happy, what I think is right and what I want to do – and I don’t worry too much outside of that.”

But as for their current relationship status Hemsworth isn't giving too much away, simply saying: “People will figure it out, they already have... They’re not dumb.” The actor also isn't paying much attention to what the press are saying.

“I don’t read or listen to the press – and these days I don’t base my decisions on it at all.,” he added. “I base all my decisions on what’s happening in front of me and I’m much happier by doing that.”

Last month Hemsworth told Australian news publication TV Week that he was ‘not engaged’ despite rumours to the contrary. Since Hemsworth and Cyrus were said to have rekindled their relationship Cyrus has been spotted wearing her engagement ring again, although she too has stayed quiet on the rumours.
