Kwabs is hoping both he and his friend Jess Glynne walk away from the 20th MOBO Awards as winners.
Kwabs hopes he and his friend Jess Glynne are both winners at the 20th MOBO Awards.
The 'Walk' singer has been nominated along with Andreya Triana,
Shakka, Lianne La Havas and Joss Stone in the Best R&B/Soul Act category, while Jess is up for two prizes, Best Female and Best Song in Association with First Direct for 'Not Letting Go', her collaboration with Tinie Tempah.
Kwabs has got to know Jess because they are both signed to Atlantic and he would be very happy if both he and the 'Don't Be So Hard on Yourself' hitmaker left the ceremony with statuettes.
Speaking at the MOBO nominations announcement in London today (30.09.15), he told BANG Showbiz: ''I'm proud to even get to be here but to be nominated in the Best R&B/Soul category is great. I think awards ceremonies are always aspirational and the MOBOs are no exception, I feel like ultimately being recognised in any way shape or form for your talent or for what your music is, to me, really is a great honour. You never know whether you're going to be nominated or not, I just enjoy the fact that I've been recognised and if I win it's a bonus.''
When asked who he'd like to see take home a prize other than himself, he added: ''As she's my label mate and as I'm someone who really appreciates her voice, I'd like to see Jess Glynne win. I think she's in with a really good chance and I'd love her to win something.''
Kwabs is also looking forward to attending the ceremony - which will be held on Wednesday November 4 at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, North England - because he will get to watch all the performing artists and he is especially looking forward to seeing FKA Twigs take the stage.
Twigs - who is engaged to Robert Pattinson - is up for Best Female and has two nominations in the Best Video category for her tracks 'Pendulum' and 'Glass & Patron'.
He added: ''I really want to see FKA Twigs perform. She's somebody who is really interesting, so it will be really exciting to see her on stage. She's incredible and I've not seen her live yet.''
The 2015 MOBO Awards will be hosted by Sarah-Jane Crawford and will be broadcast live on ITV2 and later repeated in full on ITV.
