When newspaper stands put Us Weekly out on Tuesday, eagle eyed mag-sellers - who actually care about the content they pedal - would have been surprised to see Kourtney Kardashian gracing the cover instead of Kim.

With Kanye West announcing her pregnancy, Mrs (to the wrong guy) Kardashian is the hottest piece of magazine property going. For this week anyway. A mix up in schedules, a busy New Year's holiday and matriarch, Kris Jenner, for not tipping them off are to blame for them not getting her on the cover for Tuesday's edition. "Us paid for the Kardashian exclusive; they are livid now. After all the press they've given the girls, they're furious," says an Us insider. "Clearly Kris knew about this. She negotiated Kourtney's deal with them. They've given the family millions over the years for exclusives; they expected at least the first tip."

"Sometimes the baby announcement sells more than the baby pics," says the Us insider. "Kris runs that family like a machine. She wanted the control over when and where they make their money. The contract states that they have Kourtney exclusively for two weeks, but they're more interested in Kim." Kim's baby isn't even born yet, but talks are already underway about the wee-one appearing on the reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
