Kim Kardashian West took selfies as a child.

The 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' star, who is gearing up to release a book of the favourite photos she has taken of herself, claims she was into the trend as a youngster, long before it became popular.

While pitching the book, entitled 'Selfish', she said: ''I took pictures of myself with digital cameras when I was in junior high and high school, and I just got hooked.''

The 34-year-old beauty - who has 19-month-old daughter North West with her husband Kanye West - added she took the first snap of her own face at the age of four, and has been ''obsessed'' with the trend ever since.

She is quoted by gossip website TMZ as saying: ''I was always obsessed with selfies.''

Earlier this week, the reality television star took to her Instagram account to officially announce the release of the book, which is due out in May, and revealed it was inspired by her 'Bound 2' rapper beau, whose company Donda has also been involved with the making of the collection.

She wrote: ''So proud to share the cover of my book Selfish, out in May! Thank you Rizzoli for making this happen & being the best partner. A big thank you to the Donda team & Kanye for inspiring this idea & helping to design this book so I can share a decade of selfies in such an intimate & artistic way! Can't wait for you to all see this book! (sic)''
