Kendall Jenner has deleted her Instagram account without giving any warning to fans.

The model had one of the image sharing site’s most popular celebrity accounts and in 2015 had the most ‘liked’ post of the whole year.

But on Monday morning fans woke up to find a ‘sorry, this page isn't available’ message when trying to access Kendall's account.

Kendall has not spoken about what’s happened to her Instagram on any of her other social media accounts.

However in an interview with Allure magazine in September she did admit to sometimes taking a social media break.

"I definitely have close friends, and even some family members, who are so connected to their phone and can't get off of it,” she told the magazine.

Recalling a vacation she took with sister Kylie two years ago, Kendall continued: "I was just zoning out, taking it all in.

“And Kylie wouldn't put her phone down. I'm like, 'That's so crazy to me that you're not experiencing this.’

“That was the moment it kind of clicked for me. And I didn't like it. So sometimes I delete Instagram or Twitter or Snapchat off my phone for a couple days.”

While the model has amassed millions of followers and once held the record for the site’s most liked photo, she’s also had her fair share of controversies.

Last month she angered some followers when she posted images from her Vogue Spain shoot where she was dressed as a ballerina, which some called disrecptpful to professional dancers.

Defending the shoot in her blog, the model later said: "It’s so funny that people are getting pregnant and married - or having crazy drama - but my drama is ballerinas being upset at me!"

"With my Vogue Spain shoot, I didn’t even know I was going to be a ballerina until I went into hair and makeup,” she continued.

“I never said I knew ballet and I didn’t practice beforehand. I just show up to do my job!”
