American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson is expecting her first child with husband, Brandon Blackstock.

The 31 year-old announced the exciting news via twitter on Tuesday (Nov 19th).

Clarkson posted, "I'm pregnant!!! Brandon and I are so excited! Best early Christmas present ever :)"

It has been quite a thrilling time for the couple in these past couple of months, they only tied the knot on October 20th, after being engaged for nearly a year.

Their ceremony was intimate to say the least, it was a low key, private affair, attended by only a handful of close friends and family, including Brandon's children from a previous marriage.

The press only heard about the news after the new Mrs Blackstock shared the news with her twitter followers.

The baby news was expected as the 'Never Again' singer admitted, even before her wedding, that her Christmas wish is to have a baby.

"I want babies, like, right off the bat!," Clarkson said on 'Elvis Duran and the Morning Show' (Oct 9th).

"Well, I'm totally gonna have a girl, my first child will be a girl-I know it in my soul."

Kelly also claimed to have "totally" picked out names for her future child with two names if it's a boy and two names if it's a girl, but defiantly refused to reveal any of them.

This Christmas, the 'Stronger' singer will also be celebrating the success of her latest studio album 'Wrapped in Red', this was Clarkson's first Christmas set and it debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 chart selling over 69,700 units.
