Kelly Clarkson is releasing a Christmas album months ahead of time and working on her return to music.
Some of us are gearing up for Halloween, others have skipped the autumn holidays entirely and are gearing up for Christmas already – case in point: Kelly Clarkson’s newly released holiday single. Clarkson premiered 'Underneath the Tree' online today, as part of her upcoming winter collection Wrapped in Red. The song is a 3-minute, upbeat ditty, predictably layered with loud piano chords and sleigh bells, but it gets the point across - get excited about Christmas and get excited now.
Clarkson's recent style choices match the holiday theme.
According to Digital Spy, the track is the creation of Clarkson in collaboration with Greg Kurstin. Like any self-respecting holiday compilation, it will include a few covers of festive classics like 'White Christmas', 'Baby, It's Cold Outside' and 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas'.
After a three-year-hiatus, the singer is planning a full-length album for 2014.
The album will feature some original songs, written or co-written by the American Idol laureate herself, with titles like 'Wrapped in Red', 'Every Christmas' and 'Winter Dreams (Brandon's Song)', among others. The album will benefit from a release almost two months ahead of Christmas, on October 28 in the UK and the next day in the US. This also gives Clarkson plenty of time to work on her upcoming full-length release, an as-of-yet untitled album, slated for 2014. This will be Clarkson’s first full album since 2011’s Stronger, although the singer wasn’t entirely absent from the headlines during her hiatus, most notably for her attempt to purchase a ring, owned by Jane Austen, which was ultimately attained by the Jane Austen Museum and remained in England.
Welcome back to music, Ms Clarkson!
