This week, in "People Saying Awful Things About Celebrities"
This week, a Fox News presenter is in trouble for saying something not nice to a prominent woman, Kelly Clarkson. See also: life resumes as normal. During his Friday appearance on The Mike Gallagher Show, Chris Wallace decided to have a dig at the pop singer, jus a couple weeks after Katie Hopkins did the same on social media.
Kelly Clarkson is yet to acknowledge the unpleasant comments.
It’s to be expected from both Hopkins and Wallace, but still, the comments were pretty unnecessary. To be fair to Wallace, he was kind of baited into giving the unfortunate sound bite by Gallagher himself.
"Listen, don't fat shame me," Gallagher reportedly told Wallace. "You do a lot of fat shaming. That's the new phrase now. Fat shaming. Have you seen Kelly Clarkson? You know the singer, Kelly Clarkson? Holy cow, did she blow up."
In an attempt to stay classy, Wallace did try to avoid the subject, noting that Clarkson does have “a lovely voice”. He was almost in the clear, when he dropped the bomb, saying that the former American Idol should “lay off the deep dish pizza”, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Oh no! He was almost at the finish line, the prize being the badge for basic human decency.
Fellow Fox News anchor Greta Van Susteren later took to her blog to call out Wallace for his comments. "This 'guy snickering' about her weight is obnoxious," she wrote. "He should apologize."
