Joaquin Phoenix has revealed he is unconcerned about winning the biggest accolade available to an actor in Hollywood.
Joaquin Phoenix isn't interested in Oscar glory.
The 40-year-old actor has enjoyed three nominations for 'Gladiator' (2000), 'Walk The Line' (2005) and 'The Master' (2012), and is widely accepted as one Hollywood's greatest actors - but confessed he doesn't give a second thought to winning at the annual Academy Awards.
He said: ''That doesn't mean anything. That's other people's idea of success. Whereas I still feel that I'm not satisfied.''
With a career CV that includes playing historical figures, modern philosophers and music icons, his acting career is packed with diversity but Joaquin hopes his best is yet to come.
He told The Times newspaper: ''It's impossible for me to say. I just know that I'm not satisfied yet. I just know that I haven't done that thing where I've achieved something. I don't feel that I've done that yet.''
And the star credits his siblings Rain, Summer, Liberty and River Phoenix - who died in 1993 of a drug overdose - for his lack of competitive nature and interest in grand accolades.
He said: ''I never grew up with that idea of competition. We didn't compete as kids, and maybe because we were such a close family our parents downplayed the idea of competing.
''So the idea of all these big movies having awards campaigns with money behind them kind of bothered me.''
