Australian billionaire James Packer has reportedly been courting Mariah Carey for months.

The 45-year-old beauty, who split from Nick Cannon last summer after six years of marriage, has been treated to some extravagant gifts by the globe-trotting businessman, who's been trying for months to win her heart.

Packer, 47, spent thousands on flowers for her suite at the Peninsula Hotel in Paris a few weeks ago, where she was shooting an editorial for Harper's Bazaar magazine, while he also travelled to Las Vegas to support Mariah before the opening night of her Mariah #1 to Infinity residency, the New York Post newspaper reports.

The duo have also been spotted together on his yacht during the Cannes Lions creative festival.

News of their relationship emerged shortly after Mariah's estranged husband Nick Cannon - with whom she has four-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan - refused to rule out the possibility of them reuniting one day.

He said: ''It's one of those things, I'm a hopeless romantic too. Through this learning process, you never say never.

''To me one thing I know, that will always be the love of my life, always be my family and that's never going to change.''
