As his 80th birthday approaches this July, Giorgio Armani has confirmed he won't be retiring any time soon.
Giorgio Armani has no plans to retire.
The Italian fashion mogul's company boasted record-breaking sales figures of 2,186 million euros in 2013 and he has no intention of putting an end to his career any time soon.
He told Il Sole-24 Ore newspaper: ''I'm about to celebrate my 80th birthday and the 40th anniversary of my brand. The double landmark is an important event that unifies my personal and professional life.
''I've still got a lot of energy and my projects for the future are focused on the creativity of the collections and the group's global strategy.
''For those who are wondering, I can confirm I have no intention of giving up. But I'm continuing to cultivate my team to make sure my business can continue in future.''
The designer revealed he was going to continue boosting Armani's retail network in key global markets after last year saw the company successfully open more than 100 standalone stores.
The brand also intends to build upon the success of its sporty EA7 line and concentrate on accessories in 2014.
Giorgio previously claimed he had already made plans for a successor and was working towards a smooth handover for when he eventually retires.
He said: ''I would like to reassure everyone that everything is under control. It's been years that I've been planning for my succession and I've got a loyal workforce who will take care of everything.''
