Gerard Depardieu and Tim Roth are to team up for a new film about the soccer world's governing body Fifa.

The French actor will play former president Jules Rimet, whose name adorns the World Cup, while Roth will portray the organisation's current head Sepp Blatter, according to British reports.

The film, which will be shot in France, Brazil and Azerbaijan, will be released to coincide with the 2014 World Cup tournament in Brazil next summer.

Blatter has already given Roth his blessing to play him, even though the actor is 25 years younger than the sports boss.

Following a recent meeting, the Fifa head said he realised he has "a lot in common" with the Reservoir Dogs star.
