Fact: Game Of Thrones fans were left distraught on Wednesday (09Mar16) after mistaking legendary Beatles producer George Martin for author George R. R. Martin. The music mogul, known as the "fifth Beatle", died late on Tuesday (08Mar16), aged 90, but devotees of the fantasy series thought their favourite writer had passed away before he could finish his long-delayed final two instalments of his popular A Song of Ice and Fire series, and began mourning his loss on social media, before realising their error.
Fact: Author George R. R. Martin, whose novels are the basis of hit drama Game of Thrones, celebrated his 67th birthday at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday (20Sep15). He was also given an unforgettable birthday present - Game of Thrones won four prizes, including Outstanding Drama Series. Including eight wins at the Creative Arts Emmys, the fantasy series made history with the most wins any series has won in a single year, breaking The West Wing's record set in 2000.
