Record Executive Stan Cornyn Has Lost His Battle With Cancer At The Age Of 81.
The Warner Bros. executive passed away at his home in Carpinteria, California on Monday (11May15).
Cornyn joined the company when it was formed in 1958 and worked on advertising and promotion campaigns for artists including Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Fleetwood MAC, James Taylor, Joni Mitchell and Van Morrison in the 1960s and 1970s.
He began writing liner notes for albums and was nominated for a Grammy Award five times for his Frank Sinatra musings, winning gold in 1965 and 1966, for September of My Years and Sinatra at the Sands, respectively.
Cornyn was also the author of Exploding: The Highs, Hits, Hype, Heroes, and Hustlers of the Warner Music Group.
