He was once one of the network's chief political commentators, but now, as Fox Cuts Ties to Dick Morris, he'll have to find pastures new. Morris was mistaken in his staunch predictions that Mitt Romney would win last year's election by a landslide, whereas Barack Obama won what became a very tight race.
According to the Examiner, Morris also came under criticism for accepting payment for advertising on his website from candidates that he discussed for his job.
Morris has barely been seen on the FoxNews channel since Obama's win, which he reasons was down to his backing of Romney. "The key reason for my bum prediction is that I mistakenly believed that the 2008 surge in black, Latino, and young voter turnout would recede in 2012 to normal levels," he said. We're unsure where Morris may have gathered the kind of evidential reasoning that he surely must have had behind such a bizarre opinion.
Except, perhaps that, in the run up to the 2008 election there was an enormous campaign including many celebrities to draw out the demographics who had not historically been voting. Kanye West, among others, attempted to persuade young voters to use their power, which resulted in a larger turn out of voters overall.
Despite Morris being dropped by the network, Republican strategist Karl Rove, who also came under criticism over the election period has had his renewed his contract.
