Florence + the Machine singer Florence Welch is hoping to make her Glastonbury Festival experience a spiritual one by meeting Buddhist leader the Dalai Lama
Florence Welch would ''love'' to meet the Dalai Lama at Glastonbury.
The 28-year-old singer - who will headline the world famous festival tonight (26.06.15) with her band Florence + the Machine - is eager to meet the Tibetan Buddhist leader who is making a rare appearance at the event to give a talk to festival goers.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: ''A lot of the artists are excited to hear what the Dalai Lama has to say. Florence is very spiritual, caring and open-minded. She would love to meet him on site.''
The Dalai Lama's spokesman has revealed the key themes of his visit to the event at Worthy Farm in Somerset, South West England, will be ''the promotion of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's message of compassion, non-violence and the oneness of humanity''.
Although the 'Ship to Wreck' hitmaker isn't a Buddhist, she considers herself to be a holistic and spiritual human being and has explored many different religions and faiths, including paganism and even witchcraft.
Revealing that she even cast spells while she was a school girl, Florence said: ''Me and my two friends made these spell books.
''I tried to make one classmate fall in love with me, so me and my coven put his name in a bottle. The rule was that there has to be a drop of blood and ... well, I don't know if it ever worked.''
The Dalai Lama will be giving his talk in the festival's famous Green Fields area and festival co-organiser Emily Eavis has described his visit to her and her father Michael Eavis' farm ''a special moment''.
Glastonbury will also have a visit from Professor Stephen Hawking this year. The physicist is due to appear in the Kidz Field.
