The British model admits she had a ''big forehead'' and perceived as conventionally pretty before starting her modelling career.
Edie Campbell claims she ''wasn't pretty'' as a teenager.
The model thought she had a ''big forehead'' and wasn't seen as conventionally pretty when she was growing up, but it wasn't long before her awkward looks landed her a spread in British VOGUE magazine and the chance to work with famed photographer Mario Testino for a Burberry campaign alongside Kate Moss.
Speaking at London's VOGUE Festival, Edie revealed: ''I was not pretty growing up, I had some really bad orthodontics, a big forehead: I was a vision, but not in a good way... My first photo shoot, my first day of modelling, was actually with Mario Testino. It was great; I got the day off school, got a free lunch...''
The 20-year-old beauty shared her experiences at the festival alongside fellow models, Karlie Kloss, 21, Jourdan Dunn, 23, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, 26, who admits her first foray into the industry was a little more difficult as an agent initially told her that modelling ''wasn't the world for her.''
Meanwhile, Jourdan recalled her lonely experiences while living in New York after being discovered in her local Primark in London aged 16.
She said: ''My mobile bill was crazy because I was just on the phone to my mum every day; crying and complaining, then some more crying and more complaining.''
