Filmmaking genius Edgar Wright has returned with another crime comedy epic entitled 'Baby Driver', starring Ansel Elgort and Kevin Spacey. Based on a previous music project of Wright's, the film is his first US venture and is set to arrive in August.

The film follows a young man named Baby (Elgort) who happens to be an excellent getaway driver. He also has another unusual quirk; when he was a child, he was in a car accident that left him with a permanent ringing in his ears and as such constantly listens to music through his earphones to combat the sensation. It doesn't affect the way he works, however, and he's an indispensable part of Doc's (Spacey) criminal gang.

However, when he decides he wants to leave the group after falling in love with a pretty waitress named Deborah (Lily James), Doc understandably doesn't want to let that happen and even threatens Baby's new girlfriend. With no choice left, Baby invites Deborah to run away with him - but just how far can his road capability take him when he's being chased by murderous thieves?

Featuring the same producers as on his previous movies, 'Baby Driver' is both directed and written by Edgar Wright (the man behind 'Shaun of the Dead', 'Hot Fuzz', 'The World's End' and 'Scott Pilgrim vs. the World'), who left the project 'Ant-Man' in favour of this car chase thriller. It actually marks the very first Edgar Wright film to be shot in the US, production having taken place in New Orleans and Atlanta.

The inspiration for the film came from a 2011 music video Wright directed for the electronic duo Mint Royale's single 'Blue Song'. Noel Fielding, Julian Barratt, Michael Smiley and Wright's frequent collaborator Nick Frost all appeared in the video, with Fielding acting as the music-loving getaway driver timing the group's heist to the Mint Royale tune.

The film is also set to star Jon Bernthal, Eiza González, Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx, Sky Ferreira, Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers and there's even rumours that Meryl Streep will make a cameo appearance. It's the first of two upcoming collaborations between Spacey and Elgort, who are also set to star together in 'Billionaire Boys Club', and it also sees a reunion between Foxx and Spacey who both starred in the 'Horrible Bosses' movies.

'Baby Driver' arrives in the US on August 11th 2017 and hits the UK on August 16th.
