Soccer Star David Beckham Jetted To Cambodia Over The Weekend (13-14jun15) To See How His Charity Project Is Helping Abused Children In The Country.
The former athlete has been a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) since 2005 and he launched 7: The David Beckham UNICEF Fund, to protect vulnerable children across the world, earlier this year (15).
Beckham travelled to Siem Reap in Cambodia to see how the charity has benefited young victims of physical, sexual and emotional abuse, and pictures show him playing with the children and helping them with their chores.
He says, "I am here in Cambodia to meet children who have experienced violence, hear their stories and see what UNICEF and its partners are doing to keep these children safe. It is shocking that every five minutes a child dies because of violence somewhere in the world. This has to stop."
Beckham also posted a picture of himself surrounded by kids in makeshift hats on Instagram.com, and wrote, "Today's amazing visit with @unicef to meet children affected by violence. Violence against any child is unacceptable. Children should never be in danger... Great to see @unicef work & the smiles on these children's faces..."
