David Beckham And His Wife Victoria's Plan To Install Air-conditioning In Their Luxury London Mansion Has Riled One Of Their Neighbours.
The soccer star and his fashion designer spouse paid $50.4 million (£31.5 million) for the property in the affluent Holland Park area of the U.K. capital, but their latest plan to add air-conditioning units to the house is being opposed by a local homeowner.
A nearby resident has sent a strongly-worded letter to the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea Council regarding the building work, which includes installing air-con in five rooms including the luxury gym and large wine cellar.
The neighbour writes, "The council must identifed (sic) our deep concerns about all adverse impacts on living conditions from noise, vibration, dirt, pollution and dust from construction and from associated traffic, in addition to concerns about impacts on drainage, on appearance and landscape, on structural stability, and on historic buildings."
The unnamed complainant also insists he "totally disagrees" with the plans, which "will affect the historic character of the Victorian house of the streets, my house included".
The superstar couple reportedly submitted fresh applications for the ventilation units in February (15) and a decision is expected to be made by local planning chiefs later this month (Apr15).
