Danny O'Donoghue wants to start a family.

The Script singer is currently single after splitting from his girlfriend of four years Irma Mali in 2012 but admits he is just ''playing the field'' at the moment and having a bit of fun before he settles down.

He said: ''There's nothing I'd love more than to start a family when the time is right...

''[At the moment] I'm single and plying the field! I'm dating, I'm just having fun.''

The 33-year-old singer looks set to make one lucky lady very happy when he does finally settle down as he is a firm believer in being a gentleman and opening doors for a woman and he likes to cook for his girlfriends.

He added: ''I write songs, I cook dinner and I like to treat a woman nicely.

''I'm old school - I believe doors should be opened for a woman.''

Danny was romantically linked to his 'The Voice' contestant Bo Bruce in 2012 but he insists the pair are no longer in touch.

He told Britain's OK! magazine: ''She had a single out that I helped her with but that was the last contact I had with her.

''It's just one of those things that we're not in touch anymore.''
