The Original Manuscripts By Citizen Kane Director Orson Welles Are Going Under The Hammer At An Auction In California.
Profiles in History bosses are selling off three screenplays, which show off Welles' artistry at various stages of the film's evolution.
The original rough draft of Citizen Kane, then given the working title American, was written in 1940 by Welles' collaborator Herman Mankiewicz and is the earliest known existing draft of the classic movie.
The second draft is a "fuller evolution" of the script, while the third and final revised shooting script includes handwritten notes from Welles and is signed by most of the cast.
All three scripts are estimated to sell between $20,000 (£12,500) and $30,000 (£18,750) when they go on the block on 30 September (15).
The 1941 film is considered one of the the greatest films ever made by many critics, filmmakers and fans.
