Talented pop singer Christina Grimmie has died after being gunned down by a stranger following her concert in Orlando on Friday (June 10th 2016). Her death came just hours before a second shooting in the same city, where another gunman opened fire and killed 50 people at Pulse nightclub. The two incidents are not thought to be connected.

The 22-year-old singer's life was tragically cut short after a young man named Kevin Loibl shot and killed her as she was signing autographs at the Plaza Live in Orlando, Florida, before turning the gun on himself. Police have not yet found any motivation behind the killer's actions, but he is believed to have travelled 100 miles from his home in St. Petersburg to commit the crime.

'She was doing a meet-and-greet, just signing autographs and selling merchandise. This white male approached her and opened fire, striking her', Orlando Police Chief John Mina revealed at a conference. 'There is no indication that he knew her. We're looking into that to try to find a motive for the crime.'

Grimmie finished in third place on season 6 of 'The Voice' in 2014, where she was coached by Adam Levine who went on to sign her to his label 222 Records. She had just released a new single entitled 'Shrug'. In the days leading up to the shooting, she had posted a string of happy messages to her fans on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook including a short clip of her singing to her fans: 'The sun is out and I'm feeling okay, hope you have a very good day'. That was her final Instagram post which she posted on the day of her death.

A GoFundMe page has been set up in her name by her manager (and Selena Gomez's stepfather) Brian Teefey, who wanted to raise $4,000 for her family. 'Words cannot begin to describe the pain I am feeling', he wrote on the page. 'I learned this business through the eyes of a father and Christina was like a second daughter to me. All I wanted to do was assist her in achieving her musical dreams while protecting her from the pitfalls associated with the business. I never could have imagined this horrific event being one of the pitfalls needing to be avoided.' As of today, $121,510 has been raised.
